SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Giant flames ripped through a two-story quadplex in Shreveport's Highland neighborhood Friday morning.

Firefighters were called out to the fire in the 300 block of College St. around 1:45 a.m.

It appears that no one was living in the quadplex and no one was inside when the fire started.  No injuries have been reported.

Neighbors say firefighters did go door to door asking them to evacuate their homes as a precaution. They did not have to do mass evacuations after learning the quadplex was empty.  They were able to take a more defensive approach to battling the blaze instead.

It took firefighters about an hour to get he blaze under control. The home was a total loss.

Firefighters say a man did live in the home, but he had left around midnight. The man says owned the home and was in the process of remodeling it.

Fire investigators are working to find out what started the blaze.
