It is now crunch time for the Caddo Parish School Board as it sets out to find a new superintendent before next school year.
The board met on Tuesday to discuss, among other things, updates about the search, community meetings and parental involvement.
Part of the plan laid out today includes special meetings for parents and community members, giving them a chance to voice their concerns.
"I'm just really hoping that the school system will get more parents and educators to care about the kids," says Lakeitha Miles, parent of a student enrolled in the Caddo Parish school system.
Good leadership can bring about the results she seeks, Miles says. And that's why she's paying attention as the board picks the new superintendent.
If all goes according to plan, a new superintendent could be chosen as early as July.
The community meeting dates will be set after the next school board meeting on April 30. The board also will make final a timeline for the superintendent search.
