Northwestern State announced football dates

Northwestern State is announcing kickoff times for its 12-game 2013 football schedule that includes six home contests in Turpin Stadium, highlighted by the Oct. 19 homecoming game against Southeastern Louisiana and a Sept. 7 visit by Southern.

NSU's first three home games, including those two, will kick at 6 p.m. - the Southern contest, a Sept. 28 visit by Langston, and the Oct. 19 homecoming game.

The Nov. 2 matchup in Turpin Stadium against Central Arkansas has a 7 p.m. kickoff. There will be an afternoon start, at 3 p.m., for the Demons' final two home games, Nov. 9 against Lamar and Nov. 23 against old rival Stephen F. Austin in the regular season finale for both teams.

NSU athletic director Greg Burke released the kick times, including those for the six road games for the Demons in their first year under new coach Jay Thomas.

The season begins Thursday, Aug. 29 with a 6 o'clock contest at Missouri State in Springfield, just north of Branson.

On Sept. 14, the Demons play a 6 p.m. CST game at Cincinnati with the Bearcats led by new coach Tommy Tuberville, the former Auburn, Ole Miss and Texas Tech head coach.

A week later, on Sept. 21, NSU plays closer to home at Alabama-Birmingham with a 2 p.m. kickoff.

After an open date on Oct. 5, the Demons open Southland Conference play Oct. 12 in a 3 p.m. battle with in-state rival Nicholls State in Thibodaux.

Following the homecoming game, Northwestern goes to Huntsville, Texas, on Oct. 26 to face Sam Houston State, which has played in the past two FCS championship games.

The last road game comes Nov. 16 with the renewal of NSU's most intense rivalry, a 7 o'clock contest in Lake Charles against McNeese State.

Season ticket renewals are continuing for the Demons' home schedule. Complete ticket information is available at the NSUDemons.com website.
