SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Shreveport Police hope the video they released Tuesday will enable the public to help them find a man they want in connection with a carjacking that occurred Friday evening.

Police say they were called about 6 p.m. to the intersection of Southfield Road and Youree Drive to investigate an alleged carjacking.

They say victim, an adult woman, told them that she was in the 4100 block of Youree Drive when she was accosted by a man who approached her SUV as she was about to leave a private parking lot.

She says the man, after motioning for her to roll down her window, forced his way inside the woman's SUV, forcing her to remain captive in the vehicle as he sped off, narrowly missing other cars.

After a struggle, the woman escaped from the man's grasp and jumped from the SUV as it slowed near the intersection of Southfield Road at Youree Drive. The man drove away with the woman's stolen vehicle.

The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Authorities later found the woman's SUV abandoned near Clyde Fant Parkway.

Police say the man in the video they released is the suspected carjacker. They need the public's help to identify the man.

Anyone with information about this crime is urged to contact Caddo-Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373 or on their website at www.lockemup.org.
