VIVIAN, LA (KSLA) -

A "person of interest" is being interviewed in connection with the suspected arson of a north Caddo Parish church.

Caddo Parish Fire District #8, the Louisiana State Fire Marshal, Shreveport Fire investigators, and agents with Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms are investigating the fire that heavily damaged at the United Pentacostal Church early Tuesday morning.

Vivian Police Chief Perry Hart tells KSLA News 12 that Fire District #8 and Vivian Police were called just before 5:30 a.m. to the church at 902 S. Pecan St. and arrived to find the church fully involved when fire crews arrived.

Once firefighters brought the blaze under control, investigators began looking for a cause.

Right now investigators are not saying what started the fire, or what made them think this could be arson.

A special K9 unit has been brought in to assist in the investigation, to assist in sniffing out whether there were any accelerants used to fuel the blaze, which did heavy damage to the inside of the building.

At this point, investigators have not released any names in connection with the investigation and no charges have been filed.
