KINGSTON, LA (KSLA) -

3 workers on a DeSoto Parish oilfield site were critically injured Friday morning and another suffered minor injuries in a fall from a workover rig.  It happened at around 9:50 a.m. on the EXCO oilfield location on Bradshaw Road in Kingston.

According to Niette, the workers were walking on a catwalk when it collapsed, dropping them some 30 feet on equipment below. There is no official cause for the equipment failure.

DeSoto Fire Captain Dallas Niette says the way the fourth man fell, is the reason why he was able to sustain only minor injuries, "The report on scene is he actually rode the piece of equipment that broke loose and right before it hit the ground, he jumped off. That saved him a whole lot of pain and agony," said Niette.

3 workers were transported to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport. One had to be airlifted. The fourth man drove to an unknown hospital on his own. Their names have not yet been released, and their current conditions are not yet known.

Exco Resources has not released a statement.
