HOWARD COUNTY, AR (KSLA) -

More than a dozen local runners ran in the Boston Marathon. They have all been accounted for.

KSLA caught up with one runner from Mineral Springs, Arkansas, who returned with some unforgettable memories in Howard County, Arkansas.

"If I had a bad day or they set it a little earlier, it very well could have been me," says Boston Marathon runner Kim Howard.

Howard is back home after a trip that he says he will never forget. The 51-year-old man participated in the Boston Marathon.

"It was my third Boston, my 45th marathon, so I have been to quite a few."

Howard said he had finished the race about 25 minutes before the explosion and was just two blocks away.

"A fire truck came by, and I saw people running from the finish line to the fire truck. And then I saw everybody in dead sprint, and I thought that was kind of strange," Howard says.

While in Texarkana, Howard says he was proud to show his medal for finishing the race. He says this is more special than the previous two, and it will not be the last.

"I am not going to let anything like that deter me. That is what they want. They want you to stay from things like that. So, I won't let this deter me at all."
