A bomb unit, with the help of a robot, detonated a suspicious package found near the entrance of the West Monroe Walmart Supercenter.
The News-Star reports the detonation occurred about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, about three hours after the package was discovered.
Police initially used a water discharge detonation to try to disable the package but weren't satisfied it had been rendered safe so they proceeded with a second detonation, using explosives.
A bomb robot had X-rayed the package, but police say the X-ray was inconclusive.
Police have not released information about what was inside the package, but they said after the detonation that it was not an explosive.
The store was reopened shortly after 11 p.m.
