A Texarkana man is in custody following a 3-hour standoff with police, after shots were fired in what is believed to have begun as a domestic dispute.
Police were called to the Pecan Ridge at Rosehill Apartments just before 11 Wednesday night for a report of a shooting. Witnesses also reported seeing someone jump off a 2nd floor balcony.
When officers arrived, the man was inside an apartment with his girlfriend and two children inside.
After about 15 minutes, the children were released and turned over to family members waiting outside.
Police say the man, whose name has not been released, refused to let the woman leave.
SWAT was called in and surrounded the building, attempting to make contact with the man.
At one point, cell phones belonging to some of the family members gathered outside were confiscated by police because calls to relatives from the inside to relatives gathered outside were apparently interfering with officers' attempts to make contact.
More than 3 hours later, the man eventually agreed to come out with his hands up. He was arrested without further incident.
No one was seriously injured. No names have been released.
