A 78-year-old female passenger was killed Wednesday morning in a one-vehicle crash on U.S. Hwy. 371 north of La. Hwy. 2.
Louisiana State Police Troopers say their preliminary investigation reveals that a 1995 Chevrolet Suburban, driven by Annette Drew, 55, of Cullen, was traveling south on Hwy. 371 when, for unknown reasons, it traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck an oak tree in the front yard of a residence.
Drew was properly restrained and was air lifted to a hospital in Shreveport with critical injuries. Passenger Carzella White, 78, of Springhill, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Webster Parish Coroner's Office.
Alcohol use is not suspected. A routine toxicology sample was obtained from Drew and will be submitted for analysis.
