SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A man suspected of holding up a Queensborough dollar store on Wednesday afternoon has been taken into custody, and carried off on a stretcher.

Shreveport Police say the man is a suspect in the armed robbery of the Dollar General store in the 2800 block of Jewella Avenue at around 2:23 p.m.

According to officers on the scene, a man went into the store, pulled out a handgun and demanded money from the safe before taking off on foot.

Police quickly set up a search area and caught their suspect at 2:31 p.m.

Paramedics were called when the man reportedly told them he is a diabetic and may have become dehydrated from running in the heat.

The suspect has not been identified.
