SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) -

A Bossier City man wanted in connection with an aggravated assault on a Shreveport police officer has been arrested.

It happened as officers were conducting an investigation in the 300 block of Highland Avenue Tuesday morning, which is where 51-year-old Mark Anthony Roberts was allegedly attempting to sell stolen tools.

According to the officer, Roberts spotted him, ditched the tools, got into his truck and tried to run him over while fleeing the scene.

The detective got a license plate number and description of the vehicle, which was a full-size, green 1996 Ford pickup with Louisiana plate number W989684.

Patrol officers spotted the truck early Wednesday morning in the 200 block of Gladstone Boulevard. As officers attempted to make contact, the driver fled, leading police on a brief pursuit.

The chase ended when the truck crashed into a fire hydrant.

The driver was identified as Roberts, who was taken into custody with the help of a police K-9.

Roberts is charged with one count of aggravated assault on police officer with a motor vehicle and on count of hit and run. His bond is set at $100,000.
