Centenary's Cole Thompson has been named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for his efforts over the weekend, as announced by the conference office. The award marks the third consecutive pitcher of the week honor for the Gents.
In his final conference game at Shehee Stadium, Thompson garnered his fifth win of the season while fanning nine in the nine-inning decision. The Plano, Texas, native fanned a batter in each inning, including striking out the final batter of the weekend with three straight strikes. The complete-game marked his fifth on the campaign as the lone run, surrendered on six hits, was unearned.
The honor marks two straight for the senior as he joins fellow pitchers Layton Tromba, also a two-time honoree and Taylor Henry as recipients. Ben Schweinfurth, Tyler Clakley and Craig Littleman round out the conference's weekly award winners for the Gents this season as the trio was named players of the week.
Centenary concludes its home slate on Wednesday, Apr. 17 at 6 p.m. against cross-town rival Louisiana State University-Shreveport.
