One person is dead after a three-vehicle collision at Phoenix intersection early Tuesday morning.
A man driving a GMC pickup truck died when he was ejected after being struck by a Mercury Sable that ran a red light in the intersection of 35th Avenue and McDowell Road about 12:30 a.m., according to Phoenix police officer James Holmes.
The truck spun and collided with a Mercury Grand Marquee driven by a pregnant 22-year-old woman. The woman was wearing a seat belt, and was taken to a hospital for precautionary reasons. She was in good condition, Holmes said.
The driver of the Sable was hospitalized with serious injuries. Holmes said the driver was not wearing a seat belt and showed signs of possible intoxication.
The collision closed the intersection at least through the Tuesday morning rush hour, Holmes said.
The investigation was continuing and next of kin were being sought, Holmes said, who added that charges are pending.
No other information was immediately available.
