The former North DeSoto High School coach arrested and charged with indecent behavior with a juvenile is free for now.

Robert Bender, 46, was released after posting $10,000 bail with a cashier's check, according to DeSoto DA Richard Johnson.

Bender, who was coach of the boy's basketball team and a special education teacher, was arrested at the school earlier this month after DeSoto Parish Sheriff's authorities began their investigation. That began after the alleged victim's father did some investigating himself.

The alleged victim, a North DeSoto student, is the daughter of a DeSoto Parish Sheriff's deputy. The sheriff's office contends that their investigation will not be hampered by that fact.

Sheriff Rodney Arbuckle says the girl went to school with an audio and video recording device and reportedly recorded an inappropriate comment from Bender. The father, a sheriff's deputy, is said to have gone to the sheriff's office with a complaint and the video.

There is no word yet on a future court date for Bender.
