A teenager is in the hospital following an early morning shooting in Shreveport's Lakeside subdivision.
Police were called to the 2100 block of Milam Street at 2:40 a.m. Sunday for a report of a shooting. There, they found a 16-year-old male gunshot victim who told them that he and another family member were walking home when they were approached by a suspect armed with a small caliber handgun.
According to the victim, the suspect threatened to kill him and other members of his family. That's when the teen says the suspect fired a single shot, striking him in the leg, before fleeing.
The teen was taken to the hospital with injuries that are described as non-life-threatening.
Shreveport Police Violent Crimes detectives arrived at the scene of the crime, launching an investigation into the shooting. It is believed that the suspect in the shooting may be known to some degree by family members of the victim.
