Arkansas (25-11, 9-5) jumped out to an 8-0 lead over the No. 1 LSU Tigers (33-3, 12-2) and never looked back as the 10th ranked Razorbacks beat LSU 8-3.
Arkansas snaps LSU's 15 game winning streak with the win Saturday.
LSU junior pitcher Ryan Eades (7-1) suffered his first loss of the season. The Razorbacks jumped all over Eades in the 4th inning, hitting him around for four runs. Jake Wise started the scoring with a 3-run homer to left field. Tyler Spoon followed that up with a RBI single to make it 4-0.
Eades was taken out in the fifth inning after allowing a couple singles to start the inning. Nick Rumbelow replaced Eades on the mound. Jake Wise tacked on Arkansas fifth run on a sac fly to close the book on Eades. The junior right-hander went 4 innings, allowed 8 hits and 5 earned runs.
On the other hand Arkansas pitcher Ryen Stanek was spectacular against the LSU hitters. Stanek went six and two third innings giving up just four hits with five strikeouts.
The Tigers eventually avoided the shutout in the 9th inning with 3 runs. Mason Katz extended his hit streak to 16 games with an infield single. Alex Bregman failed to extend his hit streak to 24 games, finishing 0-5.
It was the Tigers first loss since a 10-2 set back to Mississippi St, back on March 17.
The Tigers and Hogs finish up this series in the rubber match Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
