Driver seriously injured after tanker truck overturns near Vivian

VIVIAN, LA (KSLA) -

The driver of a tanker truck that overturned near Vivian is being treated for serious injuries Friday at LSU Medical Center.

The accident happened about 3 p.m. on state Hwy. 2 near Stacy Landing Road. Caddo Parish Sheriff's Deputies say the driver was heading east when the 18-wheel tanker truck overturned.

The truck, which was hauling 5,500 gallons of heated asphalt, spilled some of its contents onto the roadway. The Caddo Sheriff's Hazardous Materials Unit, along with an Environmental Cleanup team, was at the scene to dispose of the wasted asphalt.

The driver, whose identity has not been released, was treated at the scene by Caddo Fire District #7 before being air lifted to LSU Medical Center.

The accident is still under investigation. No citations have been issued.
