A 13-year-old boy is in serious but stable condition Friday after he was struck by school bus while riding his bicycle, Shreveport Police say.
It happened just before 3 p.m. in the 2800 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard.
Cpl. Marcus Hines says the child, whose name has not been released, was taken to LSU Medical Center with a condition initially described as "life threatening."
The boy is believed to have been crossing the road on his bike when he was struck.
Cpl. Hines confirms that there were as many as 30 students on the bus at the time of the incident. None were injured.
Caddo Schools Director of Communication Victor Mainiero says the incident involves Bus #67, which was transporting students from Linear Leadership Academy.
Mainiero confirms the child that was struck is also a student at the charter school, which is just a few blocks away on MLK Blvd.
Crash investigators are on the scene. Cpl. Hines says the bus driver has been taken in for testing that is routine any time there is a major accident involving potential serious injuries or death. Hines says it's too early to determine fault at this point.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
