BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) -

Bossier schools confirm that extra precautionary measures were taken at several South Bossier Schools, following a domestic dispute in the Shady Grove neighborhood early Thursday morning.

Public Relations Liaison Sonja Bailes says that, while there is no imminent threat to the schools, were not allowed outside to play, but school continued on normally inside.

Bailes says that this action was taken because a man with reported mental issues left his home in Shady Grove around 2 a.m. and took guns and ammunition with him. It is believed he is en route to Colorado.

Bossier City spokesperson Mark Natale says the 20-year-old man's father is the one who reported him missing, expressing concerns about his mental status. Because he is not wanted for any crime, Natale declined to release his name.

Bossier Police do not believe he is still in the area and are not actively looking for him. No threats were ever made toward our schools and children were not believed to be in any form of danger.

School Resource Officers and law enforcement officers remained present on the campuses and patrolling near the schools throughout the day.
