Francis named WAC Female Athlete of the Week

RUSTON, LA (KSLA/Louisiana Tech Sports Information) -

Louisiana Tech hurdler Kim Francis was named the Western Athletic Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week after running a pair of program top-10 times in the 100m hurdles at the Texas Relays last week.

Francis, a junior from Youngsville, La. (Northside H.S.), ran a pair of top-10 program times in the 100m hurdles last weekend, finishing ninth at the Texas Relays. Francis tied for 10th in school history with a time of 13.39 in the prelims before running 13.38 in the final, ranking in a tie for ninth in the Tech record books. That time leads the WAC, is eighth in the NCAA East Preliminary qualifying list and ranks 13th nationally.

Louisiana Tech returns to action Saturday at the Stephen F. Austin Invitational in Nacogdoches, Texas.
