BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) -

The Rodeway Inn on Hilton Drive in Bossier City was evacuated for a short time Wednesday because of what was thought to be a structure fire, Bossier City Police says.

But, as firefighters noticed no fire and little smoke at the Roadway Inn & Suites at 3033 Hilton Dr., the evacuation order was rescinded, and guests and hotel staff were allowed to return to the hotel.

Police say a heating furnace, which had not been used for some time, was turned on because of the cool weather. That was behind the smell of smoke that led to the evacuation, says Bossier Police spokesman Mark Natale.
