BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) -

A woman was struck by a Bossier City Police Department K9 officer's car at a local convenience store Wednesday morning.

It happened at the Valero in the 2800 block of Airline Drive around 10:30 a.m.

Police on scene say the woman had just walked out of the store and was trying to get to her car quickly and get out of the rain when she was knocked over by the officer's patrol unit as he drove through the parking lot.

Bossier City Police spokesperson Mark Natale says the officer was driving slowly, but didn't see the woman before she darted out in front of the car.

The woman, who police say was in her 70's, was not seriously injured. She was taken to LSU Hospital to be checked out.
