SPD on hunt for alleged fuel thief

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Shreveport Police want to find the driver of a pickup whom they suspect illegally pumped $1,000 worth of fuel before driving away.

Police say the incident happened about 8:10 p.m. on March 20 at the Pel State Gas Company lot at 801 North Market St.

On Tuesday, police released surveillance video that shows the pickup, full-size with an extended cab. It was hauling a trailer, which appears to be the kind used to haul lawn mowers or ATVs.

Large wood boards are placed along the railing of the trailer to obscure the interior of the trailer, which police say appears to have large plastic containers loaded onto it.

Police say the unidentified driver, without authority or consent, illegally pumps $1,000 worth of fuel into the plastic containers before driving away.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $400 reward for information leading to the identity of this suspect. Contact Crime Stoppers at 673-7373 or at www.lockemup.org.
