A two-for-four day at the plate with three runs batted in by Hans Ask led McNeese State in a 13-hit day in a 8-5 win over the Northwestern State baseball team Friday night in Southland Conference action.
The final game of the series will be played on Sunday at 1 o'clock.
Six Cowboys (16-9, 4-1 SLC) each had two hits, including Michael Sullivan who had two runs batted in on the night. The Demons (9-20, 0-5 SLC) lost its 11th straight game.
Robert Baker (2-3) got the start for the Demons and took the lost on five innings. He gave up eight runs on 10 hits with four strikeouts and two walks.
Zach Krebs pitched two inning and allowed two hits and a walk.
Blake Ware (5-1) took the win on seven innings and allowed four runs on five hits. Steven O'Bryant and Sam Peterson worked two-thirds of an inning and combined for a run on no hits.
Lucas Quary (3) got the save after coming in with two outs in the eighth inning, and finished out the game. He had a strikeout and walk.
NSU scored their first run in the game when Regan Kaufman hit a single to right field to score Nick Purdy from third base in the fifth inning. Purdy reached on a single to right center.
Purdy and Cort Brinson scored on a fielder's choice from Edwin Gomez followed by an error by the catcher.
The final two runs came in the eighth inning when Burns scored from third base on grounder from Gomez and Todd Wallace drew a bases-loaded walk.
The Demons will return to the field on April 5 when the play Central Arkansas at home in Brown-Stroud Field.
