Blue Cliff dedicates library to Commissioner Bowman
SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -
There were blessings and balloons, hugs and applause for cancer-stricken Caddo Parish Commissioner Joyce Bowman on Friday.
Students and faculty at Blue Cliff College in Shreveport honored Bowman by dedicating the school library in her honor and holding a blood drive on campus.
Bowman's cancer has spread from her lungs to her brain. She is undergoing radiation treatment.
"Even though I won't need the actual blood, think of all the others who will. So, in the meantime, I see someone else being helped through the whole process, and that's basically been what it's been about for me this entire time," Bowman says.
Bowman's personal story continues to inspire many KSLA viewers, who have sent cards to the station to pass on to her.
