Cafeteria Report Card: chicken not kept at safe temperature

Children are back from break and heading back to the school cafeteria. KSLA News 12 has been checking up on area school cafeterias to make sure the food they are serving your children is safe to eat. This week we are grilling Texarkana, Texas schools. Two schools in Texarkana had violations.

Texas Middle School didn't make the cut. Health inspectors gave them one violation. Chicken was not kept at the safe hot temperature of 135 degrees. That is because their warmer was not hot enough. The report notes that the warmer was set at the highest temperature, but still was not hot enough.  It has now been repaired.

The second school with a violation is Pleasant Grove Middle School. The fans in their walk in cooler needed to be cleaned. All other schools dished up perfect scores. Liberty Eylau High, Elementary, and Pre-K made the grade with a flawless inspection. Pleasant Grove High and Elementary School both knew the recipe for success. They had a perfect score. Texas High School wraps up this week's cafeteria report card with zero violations.
