Deputy Caddo Coroner confirms organs found in Red River not human

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

The Caddo Coroner's Office has confirmed that the organs found Wednesday floating in the Red River are those of an animal.

Authorities were called to the banks of the Red River Wednesday afternoon, after a Sam's Town security guard spotted something suspicious floating in the river near Twelve Mile Bayou and contacted police.

The parts pulled from the water near Twelve Mile Bayou by a Caddo Parish Sheriff's Marine Unit were believed to be non-human, but they were taken to the coroner's office for further testing to confirm.

That confirmation came Thursday morning. Chief Deputy Coroner Joe Johnson says the clump of organs included a heart and lungs, but was not able to say what kind of animal they may have come from.
