Louisiana Tech sophomore outfielder Bre'shon Kimbell was named the Western Athletic Conference Baseball Hitter of the Week for his performances the week of March 18-24.
This is the first time this season a Bulldog player has been honored and the first weekly honor for Kimbell in his collegiate career.
Kimbell, a sophomore from Mesquite, Texas, helped lead the Bulldogs to a pair of wins last week over Alcorn State and Seattle U, while hitting .545 (6-for-11) over the course of the week. He also tallied two walks, six RBI, two doubles, a home run and scored five runs in three games.
Kimbell began the week with a 2-for-3 day against Alcorn State, recording a double, a run scored and three RBI to help lead Tech to a 9-1 victory at home.
The sophomore right fielder picked right up where he left off in the first series of WAC play as he went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI, including a two-run home run in the first inning to help the Bulldogs to a 5-2 win over the Redhawks. He continued his impressive play in the second game of the three-game series against Seattle U with another 2-for-4 performance at the plate with a double, three runs scored and an RBI.
Kimbell has totaled a team-leading six doubles this season and is second on the team in RBI with 14 in 23 appearances and 22 starts thus far in 2013.
