3 killed in Bowie Co. rollover wreck, 5 injured

Authorities have released the names of three Dallas, Texas people who were killed in a rollover wreck Monday morning in Bowie County.

The wreck killed the driver, Heriberto Diaz-Flores, 34, and passengers, Raul Elias Vega, 58, and Jesus Alvarez, 18. They were pronounced dead at the scene at 7:45 a.m.

Other passengers were injured: Mateo Vega-Ramirez, 36, Jose Angel Cobarubias-Contreras, 23, David Pastor Loredo-Vasquez, 22, and Jose Luis Ramirez-Diaz, 21. All were from Dallas.

Loredo-Vasquez was airlifted to East Texas Medical Center in Longview. Rivera-Hernandez was airlifted to St. Michael's Hospital in Texarkana.

Vega-Ramirez and Ramirez-Diaz were taken by ambulance to Titus Regional Hospital in Mt. Pleasant. Vega-Ramirez was later transported to East Texas Medical Center. Cobarubias-Contreras was taken by ambulance to St. Michael's.

Authorities say the vehicle was heading east on I-30 about 6:40 a.m. when it veered off the roadway into the center median and over corrected, rolling over several times. The driver and some of the passengers were ejected. It happened at mile marker 189 near New Boston.

Authorities point out that no person in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt. They were construction workers heading to Texarkana for work.

I-30 was briefly shut down. One lane is currently open. Crash investigators were sent to the scene.
