Texas roads get a C rating

The American Society of Civil Engineers Report Card gives the nation a D + rating. The report looks at aviation, waste, energy, and roads. Texas roads rated above the nation average with a C.

East Texas officials say the report is accurate.

"You may be pretty close with the 38 percent that needs some major repairs done," says Nacogdoches Road Manager Doyle Williams.

Williams says part of the reason the roads in East Texas are no longer in tip top condition is the population growth.

"It's creating a lot of issues with people moving out of the county," says Williams.

To fix the entire nation wide infrastructure it will cost an estimated $3.6 Trillion.

"Our revenues are down and our budget has been cut. I am hoping that will change in the future so we can do a better job with the oil roads and upgrading the gravel roads we have," says Williams.
