SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A Shreveport man is behind bars after leading a Caddo Parish deputy on a car chase Thursday morning.

Deputies say 40-year-old Terence Carthren had eluded authorities for the past three months after he failed to show up for a court appearance for 11 counts of felony theft. Deputies say around 5:30 a.m. Carthren was spotted in a car at his home in the 6000 block of Tulsa Street by Sheriff's Sgt. Mike Middleton. When Sgt. Middleton pulled up next to Carthren, Carthren sped away.

Carthren led the deputy on a chase for about four miles from Tulsa Street to Youree Drive. During the chase, Carthren ran stop signs and drove into oncoming traffic.

A Shreveport police officer joined Sgt. Middleton in the chase and the two arrested Carthren when he finally stopped his car in a parking lot.

Carthren was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center on a Caddo warrant for 11 counts of felony theft and a fugitive warrant from Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office.  He was also charged with aggravated flight from an officer.
