A Shreveport man now sits behind bars this evening after authorities learned of his alleged criminal involvement via a social network site.
Courtney Daniels, 21, of the 1900 block of State Street, was arrested and booked on Wednesday on charges of simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling.
The arrest stems from a residential burglary in the 1900 block of Clanton Street back in February. Shreveport Police say the victim told them that her home had been broken into while she was at work.
During the burglary, the burglar stole several pieces of jewelry belonging to the homeowner, along with other valuables.
But in a matter of days, images began to surface on the web of a man wearing pieces of jewelry and clothing that resembled the items reported stolen during the burglary.
Detectives with the Police Department's Property Crimes Unit reviewed the pictures. Authorities say they were able to gather evidence linking Daniels to the crime and identify him as the person who allegedly posted the pictures of himself to the social network account.
On Wednesday, authorities visiting Daniels' home say they found multiple items inside that had been stolen during the burglary in February. They add that Daniels was "actually wearing some of the items stolen from the victim's home."
