NATCHITOCHES, LA -

The Northwestern State baseball team will end its 14-of-15 game road stretch Wednesday when the Demons travel to second-ranked LSU to take on the Tigers at 6:30 in Alex Box Stadium.

The game call by Tony Taglavore can be heard on 100.7 KZBL in Natchitoches, or online by live stream at NSUDemons.com

The Tigers (18-2) will be the second-straight ranked opponent that NSU (9-13) has faced after losing all three in a weekend series to Oklahoma.

LSU won 13 straight games before losing the last contest of a three-game series to Mississippi State on Sunday. During the streak, the Tigers beat three Southland Conference teams that include Southeastern Louisiana, Stephen F. Austin, and Nicholls.

Northwestern State will start left-handed pitcher Cody Butler (1-1, 9.19 ERA) on the mound, and will be opposed by right-hander Russell Reynolds (0-0, 1.80).  Reynolds is the son of former Demon pitching-great David Reynolds who was drafted by the Chicago White Sox before he made it to the Triple-A level.

Five Tigers hit above the .300 mark, including Mason Katz who leads the nation in runs batted in with 32 on the season. Katz is also third in the nation with nine home runs.

Alex Bregman leads the team in hitting with a .373 average.  He has six doubles, two triples, and two homers.

Will Watson and Matt Burns are NSU's two hitters with a .300-plus batting average.  Watson hits at a .362 clip with three doubles, a triple, and a home run, and Burns has a .321 average.

The Demons will return home to open Southland Conference play Friday night at 6:30 in Brown-Stroud Field.  Saturday's game will be at 2:00 and Sunday's game will be at 1 o'clock.
