SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -
A local man is behind barsafter allegedly firing a weapon inside Shreveport city limits.
Just before noon Sunday, Shreveport Police were called to a home in the 5200 block of Kent Street in response to reports of someone firing a gun. On scene at the home, officers made contact with the victim who advised that while standing in a neighboring backyard, he heard what sounded like several gunshots. The man told police that one of the shots penetrated a nearby fence, narrowly missing him.
During the course of the officers' investigation, it was learned that 21-year-old Shonesammuies Young of the 5500 block of Bienville Street was observed firing a hand gun and allowing two other juveniles to fire the weapon as well. A 15 year old boy was issued a misdemeanor summons for interfering in a police investigation after it was learned that he intentionally hid parts of the gun after learning that police were looking for the weapon used in the incident. Additionally, a 16 year old girl is being sought in connection with the fired shots after allegedly fleeing the scene before officers arrived.
For his role in the shooting, Shonesammuies Young was charged with a single count of illegal carrying of a weapon, illegal use of a weapon, along with a separate count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Young was booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
