Search continues for missing Texarkana man

Saturday marks the one-year anniversary of the disappearance of a Texarkana, Texas man.

Steven Curtis Jones went missing while riding his motorcycle in the Liberty Eylau area. He was 57 at the time.

Family members say they plan a candle light vigil for Jones this weekend at Spring Lake Park in Texarkana.

"It has been a total nightmare every day. I miss my husband more and more and more," says Lynne Jones, wife.

Lynne Jones and her sister, Kathy Sturdivant, talked exclusively with KSLA about the past year of waiting and hoping.

"it has been very difficult. I have an 80-year-old father that hopes he finds him before he dies," Sturdivant says.

Jones, 5'10", was riding a 1983 Honda VT 500 motorcycle that was purple or burgundy in color.

Bowie County Chief Deputy Jeff Neal says the investigation remains open. But family members say not enough is being done to find Steven.

"They don't want to do what the family think they should be doing," Sturdivant says. "They have a very credible place to look for my husband and they just need to do it."

Bowie County Chief Deputy Jeff Neal says, "We have conducted two ground searches and four searches from the helicopter during the course of this investigation."

The family says they plan to organize their own search with friends and concerned citizens. It begins about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. They plan to hold a candlelight vigil at Spring Lake Park.

"I have lost hope that we will bring my husband home alive. But I need him home in whatever way we can get him home. I need to know something," Lynne Jones says.
