SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A Shreveport man is behind bars Monday night following his arrest for allegedly firing multiple shots at a house in East Shreveport earlier in the day.

Devangelo Simmons, 20, of the 100 block of Taliaferro Drive, was arrested after returning to a home in the 400 block of West 74th Street that had been the target of a drive-by shooting.

Witnesses told police that a heavy set black male was seen about 12:15 p.m. firing several rounds from a handgun while driving a black Oldsmobile. No one was injured during the shooting, but the residence sustained minor damage resulting from the gunfire.

Police later identified a suspect, who had left just after the shooting.

About 5 p.m. officers were called back to the home after receiving calls that a man fitting Simmons' description had been spotted driving past the residence again, still inside the black car.

Moments after receiving the call, responding officers successfully found and stopped Simmons in 7100 block of Burlingame Boulevard.

Police say they found evidence that linked Simmons to the earlier shooting.

Simmons was arrested and charged with one count of illegal use of a weapon from a moving vehicle, in addition to taking contraband into a penal facility.

Police have not established a motive for the shooting. But they say they have reason to believe that the shooting stems from an existing disagreement involving Simmons and people associated with the targeted home.
