BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) -

Sam's Club is making moves to build a new big box store in Bossier City.

The members-only chain of warehouse clubs is owned and operated by Walmart. They already have a store on Youree Drive in Shreveport.

Now, they want to set up shop at the Stirling Bossier Shopping Center off of Airline Drive and I-220, on a 14-acre tract just north of Academy Sports.

The store will be similar in size to the Shreveport store, at about 136,000 square feet.

They're expected to apply for a construction permit once they work out a few details. First, they'll need approval from the Bossier City Council for a license to sell high-alcohol content.

They'll also need to get approval from the Bossier City Metropolitan Planning Commission for their parking lot lighting plan, which calls for lighting poles a few feet higher than the city's limit of 25 feet. According to MPC Director Sam Marsiglia, approval of the higher lights is possible as long as there are no houses nearby. Marsiglia says this "shouldn't be a problem," since there are no residences nearby.

Construction is expected to begin in the fall of 2013 and take about a year to complete, opening in 2014.
