WEBSTER PARISH, LA (KSLA) -

Webster Parish Sheriff's Deputies are investigating a shooting Saturday morning that left a woman behind bars and her estranged husband in the hospital.

According to Deputies, Latrina McDaniel Collins reportedly shot her estranged husband several times at her home in the 800 block of Mason Felts Road in Webster Parish.

"She tried to find a permanent solution to a temporary problem," says Lt. Scott Tucker with the Webster Parish Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say when they arrived on the scene they found her estranged husband on the ground in front of a neighbor's house suffering from several gunshot wounds.

"I was just talking to him, and mainly I was just praying over him and I was trying to get him to stay with us because it looked like he was panicking," says Jacob Muniz, a neighbor of Collins, who says the man came banging on his door looking for help after the shooting.

Officials say, the shooting occurred after the man reportedly came to the home to pick up their two kids. An argument would later lead to the shooting, according to deputies.

Collins is being charged with Attempted 2nd degree Murder and her estranged husband is being treated for his injures at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport.
