DESOTO PARISH, LA (KSLA) -

The subject of a 7-hour manhunt in DeSoto Parish Friday afternoon now faces a slew of charges in connection with the incident.

25-year-old Westley Hudman was captured shortly after 8 p.m. Friday, not far from where he had ditched a stolen blue 1999 Jeep Wrangler after crashing through an oil field gate.

The Jeep had been stolen out of Gregg County, Texas.

It all started around 1:30 p.m. on US 84 near Mansfield, when a State Police Trooper attempted to stop the Jeep.

Instead, they say the man took off, eventually pulling off the road and into a pipeline clearing near Daw Road between LA 509 and I49, abandoning the Jeep and taking off on foot into the woods.

The DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office is assisting in the search. Both the DPSO and LA State Police searched from the air and on the ground until Hudman was captured more than 7 hours later.

In addition to aggravated flight from an officer and possession of a stolen vehicle, Hudman was also charged Saturday morning with littering, no seatbelt, simple criminal damage to property, criminal trespass, simple obstruction of highway commerce, interfering with a police officer, open container and operating a vehicle with a suspended license and no license plate.
