NPSO cracks lawn equipment theft operation

NATCHITOCHES PARISH, LA (KSLA) -

Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Detectives have arrested a two men in connection with a two-month investigation into a series of business burglary thefts near Natchitoches.

Authorities say their investigation lasted months of January and February 2013,  when Weeks Tractor &  Supply in Natchitoches called the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office reporting several thefts during the night.

Equipment reported stolen were:  10 Bad Boy commercial lawn mowers;  2 Cub Cadet riding lawn mowers; a Mahindra 4025 utility tractor with a six-foot bush hog; box blade; hay bale spear; and an 18-feet utility trailer valued over $70,000.

Adrian Toussaint, 32 of the 300 block of Rockford Church Road  in Natchitoches was booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center charged with 17 counts of felony theft.

Toussaint had worked at Weeks at one time, deputies say.

Shreveport Police arrested the second suspect, Natran Davis, 45, of the 3400 block of St. Louis Avenue, on outstanding criminal warrants out of Natchitoches Parish.

Davis was charged with (17) counts of felony theft and remains in the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center.

Detectives were able to recover (2) Bad Boy lawn mowers and (1) Cub Cadet lawn mower sold in the Shreveport-Bossier City area.

Detectives also believe that some of the stolen items are still in the Shreveport area, and if these suspects sold or attempted to pawn any of these items, please contact the NPSO Criminal Investigations Division at 318-352-6432.
