SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -
A woman who allegedly mishandled a firearm at her Shreveport home is recovering from gunshot injuries Wednesday evening.
Now, Shreveport Police are investigating what they are calling an accidental shooting. Police say they received a call from a local hospital just before 5:30 p.m. after the woman arrived in the hospital's emergency room.
Authorities say the woman told them that while mishandling a firearm, the gun discharged, striking her near the buttocks. She is expected to make a full recovery after suffering only minor injuries.
Shreveport Violent Crimes Detectives say the shooting happened at the woman's home in the 200 block of East 66th Street. Authorities do not suspect foul play and are not searching for a suspect in the incident.
