"I'm ready to go! Ready to learn!" Tyler Gordon says, and that is the kind of enthusiasm Mrs. Jackson's students share for her English/Language Arts class. "She lets us play spelling games and stuff on the laptops" Gordon says. "My goal is to try and make English/Language Arts as fun as it can be for the student so were playing games and doing fun activities while they're learning" Golden Apple Award winner, Tammye Jackson says.
Jackson has mentored many students, but also many teachers who have walked through Donnie Bickham's halls. "As a first year teacher you don't know anything. I was lost and every day I would go to her room and she would help me out. To this day she still calls and shares with me anything she has learned or works really good" Teresa Parks says. Parks nominated Jackson.
"Today we are working on our writing assignment. They're actually writing about a teacher that has influenced their life" Jackson says. It's no surprise that many students chose our Golden Apple Award winner to praise. "We're working on paragraph about our favorite teacher and one of my favorite teachers is Mrs. Jackson. She teaches us fun grammar and she tried to make it as fun as she can" Gordon says. "It's kind of like I'm tricking them a little bit into learning" Jackson says.
This week's Golden Apple Award winner is Tammye Jackson from Donnie Bickham Middle School. She got a 5-hundred dollar check from our sponsor, the law offices of Kirby Kelly.
