The Darton softball team got some late game heroics from Melissa Dearth in the first of Tuesday's non-region match up against Georgia Military. Dearth smacked a 3 run walk-off homer to in the 7th inning to lift the Lady Cavs over Georgia Military 6-5 in game one.
Georgia Military had taken a 5-1 lead in the 6th inning with a two run homer from Morgan Long. Darton responded in the bottom of the inning when Holly Smith delivered a two RBI double to make the score 5-3. In the 7th, Chelsea Showers sent a single to right to put the tying run at 1st before Dearth's monster bomb won it. The win pushed Darton to 18-6 on the season going into game two.
