SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A chase ends in a fiery crash after an alleged robber tried to flee from police Monday morning.

Police say they attempted to stop a car driven by a 35-year-old man that had a missing headlight. Police say that's when the driver sped off.

Police say the driver lost control of the car hitting a rig trailer before catching on fire in the 6500 block of Hearne Avenue near the Mansfield Road split. Police say the chase lasted for about five miles.

He was taken to LSU Medical Center with minor injuries. Police say he will be taken to the Shreveport City Jail after he is released from the hospital.

The driver is facing aggravated flight charges and several charges in a string of Circle K thefts for allegedly stealing cigarettes.
