SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A dollar store clerk shot in an apparent armed robbery in west Shreveport Sunday night remains in critical condition.

It happened at the Family Dollar in the 7300 block of Jewella Ave. just shortly after 8 Sunday night.

Police say a man armed with a handgun entered the store and confronted the clerk. During the confrontation, the suspect fired the weapon and struck the clerk in the upper body before grabbing cash from the register and fled.

The clerk, identified as 27-year-old Bobby Carr of Shreveport, was taken to LSU Hospital with serious injuries, but he is expected to survive.

There were reportedly customers in the store at the time of the shooting, but no one else was injured.

Police are looking for a lone male gunman, described as a black male who stood about 5'8", wearing all dark clothing and a bandana covering his face.

Authorities believe that the suspect may have been traveling in an older model white box style Chevrolet Caprice.

Anyone with information about this crime is urged to contact Caddo Crimes Stoppers at (318) 673-7373 or on their website at lockemup.org.
