More than 370 people attended the 2013 Minority Business Opportunity Awards Dinner at the Shreveport Convention Center given by the Shreveport Chamber Thursday night.  The theme was "Navigating Economic Tides."  Awards were given for Top Business Professional of the Year, Small Business Owner of the Year, Emerging Business of the Year, Business of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award. 

Top Business Professional of the Year recognizes an individual who consistently exemplifies the highest standard of professional excellence; a reputation/performance on the job is that of a respected leader or example to his/her colleagues; has a record of accomplishments and dedicates his/her time to providing service to the community.

Small Business Owner of the Year is an individual, who owns, operates, and bears the principal responsibility for operating a small business.

Emerging Business of the Year is a business that is poised for future growth and has carved a niche for itself in the business community. 

Business of the Year is an established business that employs 100 or more and has a strong philanthropic commitment to the community and creating opportunities particularly for minority businesses.

Lifetime Achievement Award is an individual who has consistently exemplified the highest standard of professional excellence throughout his/her career; has dedicated his/her life to providing service to the community; has a record of accomplishments; and has a reputation that is widespread.
