BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

A former Baton Rouge City Court clerk admitted Wednesday to taking cash bribes to dismiss traffic violations.

The US Attorney's Office - Middle District of Louisiana said Ingrid Simon, 49, of Baton Rouge pleaded guilty to using interstate facilities in aid of racketeering (bribery).

She faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. A sentencing date has not been set.

US Attorney Don Cazayoux said Simon took and solicited cash bribes on 30 or so occasions between 2007 and 2010 while working as a clerk at city court in exchange for dismissing traffic matters.

He added she would change the computer records to show the charges had been dismissed per the prosecutor's request.

Authorities did not state how much money Simon collected.
