ATLANTA, TX (KSLA) -
Nine local Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) employees have been sent to West Texas to help clear roadways following record snowfall from a blizzard that passed through the area earlier this week.
Assisting from the Atlanta District are:
Atlanta Offices: Eddie Anderson, Ricky Wright, Jason Griggs, Jason Waters, Adam Lundy, and Chris Beach.
Linden Office: Norm Petrimoulx
Dangerfield Office: Gregory Ivory
Jefferson Office: Todd Green
"We had eight Atlanta District employees who have been trained in operating snow plows and spreaders and one mechanic that will be helping our fellow workers in the Lubbock and Amarillo Districts get the snow-packed roadways cleared for motorists," said Brad Haugh, TxDOT Maintenance Administrator in Atlanta.
Several highways in the panhandle of Texas were closed Monday due whiteout blizzard conditions that left almost 20 inches of snow blanketing the area. The local crews will first help out in the Lubbock area and then move up to the harder hit Amarillo area. Joined by employees from other TxDOT districts, crews will be working around the clock to clear all the roadways.
