CADDO PARISH, LA (KSLA) -

Caddo sheriff's deputies responded to a major crash involving two cars Sunday morning on U.S. Highway 71 south of Hosston.

Deputies along with Caddo Fire Districts 7 and 8, north Caddo EMS, Bossier EMS, Life Air and Life Net from Texarkana were called to the scene of a head-on collision just before 1 a.m.

Investigators with the Caddo Sheriff's Traffic Safety Unit say it appears the driver of a Kia Forte tried to pass an 18-wheeler in a no-passing zone on a hill crest. The driver of the Kia, 25-year-old Terwana Turner of Little Rock, struck an oncoming Hyundai Sonata occupied by two people.

All five people in the Kia and the two people in the Hyundai were transported to either LSU Health or Willis-Knighton Bossier.

The other passengers in the Kia were 24-year-old Lakesha Ross and 23-year-old Shamkreka Leggiton, both of Texarkana, Ark.; and 22-year-old Qwinedolyn Cosen and 25-year-old Christina Pittman, both of Little Rock.

The Hyundai was occupied by 44-year-old John Claggett and 48-year-old Ventoria Allen, both of Texarkana, Texas.

Turner was cited for passing in a no-passing zone, reckless operation and six counts of negligent injury.
